Who We Are
PAWS Crisis Response Canines provides compassionate, animal-assisted emotional support to first responders, victims, and communities during times of crisis. Our professionally trained canine-handler teams help reduce stress, provide comfort, and support emotional recovery in high-impact situations.

Crisis Response
PAWS teams are available to deploy during and after critical incidents, including fires, accidents, and large-scale emergencies. Our dogs provide a calming presence helping reduce anxiety and create moments of connection during chaos.
Where We Serve
In Ventura County, we provide scheduled visits to fire stations, law enforcement agencies, emergency rooms, 911 call centers, and dispatch centers. During each one- to two-hour visit, our handler–canine teams support personnel on duty—helping them reset, recharge, and lift the room.
Critical Incident Support
Following difficult calls, teams are available to attend debriefings and provide quiet, steady support. The therapy dog offers comfort while the handler remains present without participating in discussions—allowing space for processing while reducing stress.

How We Help?
We are volunteers supporting first responders and communities in crisis. Our teams are specially trained to operate in high-stress, unpredictable environments. We work alongside first responders and community organizations to provide emotional support during critical incidents, disasters, and recovery efforts.
We serve:
First responders (fire, law enforcement, dispatch)
Victims and survivors of traumatic events
Community members affected by disasters.

Community Support
In addition to emergency response, PAWS teams support communities through outreach events, wellness visits, and post-incident recovery efforts. These interactions help strengthen resilience and provide ongoing emotional support.
